Sachin... Sachin....

Today I went to office in the morning little suspecting that WI team would give up so early at wankhede and events post that will be engraved not only in my heart but also in history as one of the most emotional.

At around 11.45 someone in office informs me that Sachin's farewell speech has begun. I froze hearing "Sachin's farewell speech!!!" we rushed to conference room and switched on the TV. Here was the "little master" / "Maestro" / "God of cricket" or whatever you say.. thanking to all the contributor to his success. It was really emotional.

It's difficult to give a 24 days long habit let alone 24 year old suddenly. Yes, I am or shall I say whole of India was so habituated watching him playing cricket, it is very difficult to see him giving his farewell speech. The great man was also emotional and one could see that.

I was barely a year old when he begun his cricketing career. And from the day I understood this sport for which I am so crazy (crazy is still very a sane word to describe my attachment towards cricket), till now I always saw one person playing on the field and I always chanted one thing for him... "Sachin Sachin...!!!". It is really so painful swallow that he won't take up those stances again and we wont be able to see his trade mark straight drive. It was not end of his career. His career will end only when career of all those players playing in Indian cricket team, whom he inspired(including MSD, RS etc.) and career of all those kids who take training at shivaji park in hopes of becoming another "Tendulkar" ends then only his career will end. I can see that lasting atleast for a century more (Another century for him).

Out of so many inspired by him I am not sure whether we will be able to see another "Tendulkar". Even if someone breaks few of his statistical records (though very difficult to break, if not impossible) but I don't think we might ever get a person playing on cricketing field who gave comfort / pleasure to 1 billion or more heart till the time he was on field. And as soon as he left the field at least half of the hearts broke an switched off the TV. Someone has rightly said "when Sachin hits a century India sleeps well". Such was Sachin's influence on a country obsessed with cricket. I remember one instance, when he got out in Bangalore against Pakistan to saqlain mustaq. As a child I could not believe and I cried a lot. It took my mom dad an hour to calm me down and I said how could he do this. We were so close to winning that game and once the god was gone the match went to devils (nothing against Pakistan cricket team. It's just to keep the god and devil combination).

The moment is emotional and I need to accept it. But I really thank you Sachin for giving me my passion (though not profession). Had you not been around, cricket would have never been the same neither in India nor anywhere else. Hope you could have continued forever. Will miss playing you on cricket field really badly. Sign.
